“Heo’s Diner,” an upcoming drama, has released its first teaser.
“Heo’s Dinner” is created on a rom-com web novel of the same name. It follows the events that occur when Heo Gyun (EXO Xiumin), a Joseon era figure, travels 400 years to the present and runs a restaurant.
A teaser of the new music video, which shows the drama stars of Heo’s Diner such as Xiumin, Chu So Jung, Lee Soo Min, Lee Sae On, Choi Won Myeong—taking a step in perfect coordination in front of a palace. Xiumin plays the role of Heo Gyun, a talented writer with a sharp eye for aesthetics. Heo Gyun was known for his spiritual nature, and suddenly, he met an untimely death and passed from the Joseon Dynasty to the modern era. He is widely recognized as a genius because of his photographic memory. He meets by chance a restaurant owner’s daughter, Bong Eun Sil (WJSN’s Chu So Jung). Then, they challenge each other and both of them accept the challenge to run the food shop together.
I know the director personally, and I read the script when he offered me the role,” said Xiumin, sharing his thoughts on joining the project. It was funny and light. I decided to take it because I was confident that I would enjoy filming. I was particularly drawn to Heo Gyun’s response because he felt modern inventions were changing after the time. He briefly explained Heo Gyun’s character with three key words: fair-minded, innocent, and a mystical talent.
He always expresses his true feelings without pretense and he says he has the extraordinary ability to remember what he sees once. He dreams of a world without discrimination based on social status and he believes in equal treatment for all. Xiumin also describes that Heo Gyun is “a cheerful, light-hearted person on the outside but a deep-thinking person, which gives him an unexpected charm.”
He added, “He is loyal and cares about the people around him, which is unexpected to me.” When Zamin was asked about his preparation for this character, he revealed that after the time shifted to the present, Heo Gyun had to run a restaurant, so he had several cooking scenes in the drama. I don’t usually cook, but because of this character, I followed my knife skills at home. Finally, he highlights an important detail to look for in the play.
Heo Gyun gives feedback to modern inventions with sudden, unanticipated comments. It would be fun to think about what was going on in his mind when he said those things. On her upcoming drama “Heo’s Diner,” WJSN’s Chu So Jung (Exy) has expressed her thoughts. WJSN’s Chu So Jung plays the role of Bong Eun Sil, a humble, home-cooked food restaurant girl who doesn’t even have a sign out front. A harsh, realistic girl, Eun Sil, when she faced some injustice she takes over her emotions but she seems to be tough on outside but she is very kind and warm hearted person. She is an outspoken person who is never afraid to tell her word.
When Heo Gyun suddenly comes in front of her mother’s restaurant, she immediately sees him as annoying, but she manages the restaurant with him and clashes with him at every moment. Chu So Jung (Exy) expressed her excitement for the character, saying that from the moment I read the story script, the character seemed so alive and the story was so incredibly fun. I had a strong wish to portray the role of Eun Sil.
Regarding the preparation for his character, he said, “I cooked a lot of home-style Korean food while preparing for this character. Even when eating out, I would mainly go to home-style restaurants, watching the owners, and involved in conversation with them.” She also said that Eun Sil has a strong and transparent personality. Her greatest attraction is that she may seem predictable to others, but she is never someone to be taken lightly.
Chu So Jung chose the three words that best describe her character: “bungeoppang,” which is a bun of fish-shaped and “perfect girl,” and “the smallest ever.” Eun Sil elaborates that despite being the youngest owner of a famous home-style restaurant, she may seem tough on the outside, but inside, she is warm, like a well-groomed bungeoppang. Eun Sil grew up in a difficult situation, but she remains strong, which makes her the true figure of a perfect daughter.
She talked about her chemistry with co-actors Xiumin, Lee Sae On, and Lee Soo Min by saying that on set, everyone had such shine and joyful personalities that there was never a boring moment, which is why we connected well and felt comfortable acting together. In the past, Heo Gyun was fleeing from an assassin sent by Lee Yi Chum (Lee Sae On) when he suddenly arrived in the present day in Seoul. In a daze and unfamiliar state, he meets a mother and daughter who run a local food stall and manages to procure food from them – although Eun Sil is hugely suspicious of him. The second episode is a newly released one that shows Heo Gyun in an unexpected role. He works at Eun Sil’s mother’s restaurant.
Wearing a tracksuit instead of a hanbok and neatly tying an apron, he appears as a restaurant employee, which raises curiosity about how he ended up in these circumstances. Heo Gyun offers a humorous experience by widening his eyes to modern objects, in which he is surprised by new clothes and adapts more interestly to new surroundings.
Anyhow, Eun Sil doesn’t seem too happy. In later stills, Eun Sil watches Heo Gyun like a hawk as he tries to serve customers.
